Romans 8:28

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

There is purpose in the pain of today. Pain is temporary, because life itself is only a fleeting moment. There will come a day when pain is no more, heartbreak no longer exists, and hatred is gone. God often does His greatest work in our lowest valleys. But that’s not because He only shows up when we’re hurting, it’s because, in those moments, we finally surrender and let Him take control. God is always standing on the other side of the door; you just have to be willing to open it.

Life Application:

I currently serve in the Army National Guard. It has truly been an honor, but I know I haven’t even come close to experiencing what some others have endured. That being said, even if I’m never in a physical war zone, I do know what it feels like to be in one within your heart. My son will turn three years old before I experience my first Father’s Day with him. I’ve missed every one so far because of training. I’ve also missed a few anniversaries with my wife. Those are moments you don’t get back, once-in-a-lifetime memories that I’ve had to watch pass by. But even in that pain, in that feeling of missing out, I’ve realized that God is teaching me something. Father’s Day and anniversaries come around every year, and it’s easy to treat them like just another date on the calendar. But after missing so many, I’ve learned to truly cherish the small, everyday moments in between. If life is temporary, why don’t we live like it is? Why do we take the little things for granted? Yes, God is always in control, but how you choose to live each day is still up to you. So live like life is temporary, because the truth is… it is.

God bless!
